Wandering But Not Lost

Well my friends the other day I left my apartment to hit the streets of Milano with an excess of time and a lack of an agenda. In my experience that seems to be the best way to have an extraordinary day. There was much aimless wandering and picture taking in front of this, that, and the other.
Castello

Duomo

As evening approached and I felt that my adventure for the day may be drawing to a close I heard music coming from a small side street next to Duomo. Unbeknowst to me my adventure had actually just begun. I sauntered back to stand amongst a small group of people chilling in the street and watching a live four man band that had erected a temporary stage in front of a small bar.
Nice little outdoor bandstand

I settled in to enjoy an evening of music and mirth as I enjoyed a cover of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and watched some of the audience dance with playful abandonment. The band went on to play such great songs as: "Aint no Sunshine When She's Gone", "I Shot the Sheriff", "Honkey Tonk Woman", "Very Superstitious", "Everything's Gonna be Alright", and many more.

As the band took a brief intermission I slipped into the bar and got a drink, I only feel its right to support an experience that I am partaking in. My beer was 9 euro but that also came with an aperitivo buffet where I filled a plate with delicious pasta, and a form of a caprice salad. All in all live music, a beer, and a plate of food is a lot for 9 euro.
The ingrediants for fun

Early evening turned to night and the crowd grew and the whole street in front of the stage turned to dancing. After finishing my food and beer I went down and joined in on the dance floor with everyone just having a great time and living in the moment. It was a beautiful thing.  But the amazing think is all of this, well it was just the prelude.  It was followed up by what I think is the greatest street performance that I have ever seen.  Check back in a day or so once I have had time to get the images in order and I will have a post exclusively on that.

The bar was called Bar Straf
The band was called Jaia
